At The Cross
Oh Lord You've searched me
You know my way
Even when I fail You
I know You love me
Your holy presence
Surrounding me
In every season
I know You love me
I know You love me
At the cross I bow my knee
Where Your blood was shed for me
There's no greater love than this
You have overcome the grave
Your glory fills the highest place
What can separate me now
You go before me
You shield my way
Your hand upholds me
I know You love me
And when the earth fades
Falls from my eyes
And You stand before me
I know You love me
I know You love me
You tore the veil, You made a way
When You said that it is done

went out for dinner at fish n co. with my counsellor & her counsellor & her counsellor, etc...u get the picture....apparently i'm the 10th person in a long line of counsellor-counsellee tradition that was started a long time ago...how young i feel...haha...i even found out where the real human skeleton(which was passed down) came from....according to the oldest guy who came(a new HO called jason), it was from a guy 4 yrs older than him...haha...and he said that the nasal cavity was so damaged because his senior took a pipe cleaner n tried to find the different holes and ended up creating more artificial ones!! haha....so hilarious....
5 people turned up for the dinner and although initially very awkward for me as my counsellor is a very quiet person who seldom talks & the others don't know u at all, it got better towards the end....me n my counsellor got gd advice from jason abt med sch.....advising us what stethoscopes to buy, what electives to choose first for ur life not to be a living nightmare near your final MBBS exam and other invaluable advice that only your seniors can give....such dinners are really quite a gd way for us to know our seniors.....and i think i somehow was tasked to organize the next one...=s....hahaha....

watched the play "magic fundoshi" on sunday with mich...it was ok with some parts being quite hilarious...the actors are very good...(note to mich: that guy on stage at the beginning is glen gooi, not ivan heng..haha) i bet even if u bring kids to watch the show, they prob wont understand the play....lol...
the fun part of going out with mich is actually seeing how much she eats...haha...but i must say, it's a blessing to be able to eat, unlike those stick-thin people who seem to survive eating only one meal a day....i admire mich for her "live to eat" mantra....
oh yes! and the both of us attempted to win a phone at the suntec arcade again....i seriously believe the machine is rigged....esp the one with the numbers....the other one which requires you to stack the blocks is easier....and once again(or twice actually), i was just ONE block away from winning a phone!! hahaha.....
as for yest, had a biomed comm meeting in sch.....and saw the M2s progressing to M3s already....they were all decked out in their formal attire with their landyards....so fun...i can't wait to go to M3...at least the clinical yrs seem better.....how fast time flies....
i shall end this post with my desperate plea: I need help to set questions for the biomed quiz..so anyone out there in med who reads this, pls do your part to spare me from the torment of thinking up questions!! THANKS!

stats for the casualty i was supposed to be, a poor victim involved in a bomb & sarin gas attack on the mrt...i had a massive gaping wound in my neck as well as chest & abd wounds...a P1(very serious) casualty i was called...
"this exercise is meant to stress and load the EMD of NUH to see how they cope with it"
i must say, being a casualty in an exercise is really fun...after all, u get a ride in the ambulance, wheeled through a decontamination station (which looks strangely similar to an abattoir with things hanging from the ceiling) and have nurses pretend to sponge & hose u down, being covered by a dusty blanket b4 being transferred by a PAT slide to the gurney(which btw was real fun) and wheeled to the ER where u are met with nurses n docs leisurely pretending to intubate & ventilate u, radiographers taking fake x-rays and nurses calling the OT to inform them that i required a lapraotomy(or however u spell that), after which they proceeded to photograph & catalog me b4 finally wheeling me on the gurney to the OT....sadly my fun ended when i was told by the OR nurses that my part in the exercise was over & as one doc put it "you can go back to be recycled now" haha....
one of my friends 'died' as he had his scalp torn off, another had a posterior dislocation of his tibia, fish had an amputated leg and i can't remember the rest....anyway, i'm bored now & i have no idea why i'm telling you abt the injuries others sustained.....oh well, at least i had fun seeing the hospital ceiling on a gurney =)

the stomach is an amazing organ....u can stuff so much food into it before u finally realise that you simply cannot accomodate anymore.... so much for receptive relaxation....how many prawns, salmon sashimi, mango puddings and lots of other delicious food can one stomach?? as mich will tell u, A LOT....hahahaha....this coming from someone who had 4 bowls of dessert on top of 4 plates of sashimi(which i shared with her) and loads of other stuff as well...haha...i'd better stop discussing abt how much she ate or abt her weight lest i find myself devoid of a pulse tmr!! haha...i think i have sworn off buffets for a very long time.....
oh yes, here are some quotes from michelle:
"i thought pickles were cucumbers"
"i always thought that the stuff in the crab shell was shit!" (it's egg)
--i'm sure she said other hilarious things too but currently all my blood is shunted to my GIT and as a result my brain is less perfused, attributing to this transient loss of memory...
I NEED EXERCISE!

one word that sums up today? RAIN.
my youth grp's plan to go cycling at east coast was foiled miserably by the thunderstorm in the afternoon....we ended up waiting inside Macs for the rain to subside and watched as the area outside macs started to flood very quickly..at one point it was ankle-deep and staff had to walk around in rubber boots...
since all hopes of cycling were dashed, we decided to comfort ourselves by adjourning to suntec for ice cream, all of us looking somewhat inappropriately dressed for shopping...haha....after the ice cream we went to the arcade where i NEARLY won a samsung phone!! argh...my heart still pains at the thought of it...i was
one more block away from winning a PHONE!!! *wails loudly*
the only saving grace after that was a nice dinner at kenny rogers and having the company of good friends....haha...so much for a day that was supposed to give me a workout but instead led to me eating lots of food...haha...oh well, there's always another day to exercise right?

finally did some exercise today! (applause in background for my great achievement)
after days/weeks/months of mental exercise, i decided to swim and play tennis all in one night...haha...my body is probably gg to voice its displeasure tmr when i wake up and find my arm muscles aching all over...as they say, no pain no gain right?
something to ponder abt: why do u GAIN something from exercise when ur aim is to LOSE calories??

went to Settler's Cafe at Holland v today to play board games with some med friends....it was quite fun...i really liked the first game we played which was "Citadels"....extremely fun to try and figure out who is what character for each round...i think being the thief was the best...haha...managed to steal lots of gold from todd (twice) and my biggest gold stash came from none other than lovely michelle!! haha...i think i stole her 5 gold coins at once and she started wailing....haha! so fun!!! sad to say though, in the end i still lost the game (goes to show that being a thief doesn't pay!! hehe)
the 2nd game we played was a very confusing one...something abt betrayal...haha...all of us didn't know how to play the game except todd and we ended up losing each time as our friend got killed twice...haha..once by being buried alive by the traitor and another time by having one too many nightmares being released...till now i still have no idea what was going on in the game...haha....our 3rd n final game was called "Saboteur"...quite a fun game whereby the objective is to retrieve gold at the end by building roads for the gold digger to cross...the paths can be blocked by saboteurs (or rather players are blocked by PSUEDO-saboteurs like guan hong) and in the end the saboteurs won the game cause the rest of us couldn't reach the gold in time....
so much for my day that was filled with a free flow of rootbeer, laughter and the company of friends....
oh yes, it was so easy to read mich's moves during Citadels......hahahahaha

had one of those days where u laze around at home and decide to spend your afternoon catching up on reading.....reading books other than med textbks n notes has somewhat become a rare luxury ever since uni started...it's so refreshing to read literature other than information abt the course of the pudendal nerve, the role of arginine in A.A metab or first principles in physio.....before i bring up bad memories of a recent exam, i shall move on to talk abt happier stuff like HOLIDAYS!!
really didn't mind going to nepal after watching "Himalaya" but as everyone knows, in the light of the recent civil unrest going on in nepal, that will probably remain untouchable at least for the rest of my hols this yr.....so i have decided to set my sights on a safer place to go to--NZ! yay! finally my first major holiday in many, many years.....only glitch so far is the cost, but i'm trusting in my Heavenly Father to provide for me and of course i'm going to have to start giving more tuition! haha...my poor tuition kid will be wondering why i'm speeding up my tuition lessons...*evil grin*
well, in the meantime it's back to watching more Michael Palin! (i'm watching "Full Circle" now)

4 months of holiday which started yesterday.....
watched Inside Man yest and found it ok, although i really hated all the panning of the camera...made me feel dizzy..haha..plot was ok...probably not the best movie i've watched given it's stellar cast....
anyway, the highlight of my day? sitting like tired aunties on massage chairs with mich at best denki...haha...the staff didn't even bother to chase us out as we sat there for probably at least half an hour trying out the diff types of massage....take shiatsu for instance: how can anyone sit there quietly when it feels like a huge steam roller is going over your back?? i tried it for one min and quickly decided on GENTLE tapping and rubbing of my shoulders....haha...
Noble house buffet on Thurs, 13th of april anyone???

finally it's over!! IT"S OVER!!! hahahaha!!!!! YES!!!
pardon me for acting like i have officially gone off my rockers, but it's a pent up feeling that i've been wanting to release since CAs started...haha...and finally i can!
the exam papers were quite tough, esp. physio, but then again, since when is physio NOT hard?? every answer you pen down is fraught with uncertainty as to whether you will get it correct or not...
anyway, now's the time to relax and think happy thoughts... my cortisol levels have finally gone down after reaching consistently high levels over the past week (or is it up considering that i'm blogging abt this in the
morning?? haha..)
there's so many things i want to do, like go on long hols as this will probably be my last long holiday for the rest of my life....haha...if only mich decided to go to cheaper places... =s (unless of course nice michelle decides to sponsor part of my holiday...haha....) in the meantime, i'll probably satisfy my exotic holiday cravings by watching Michael Palin's BBC documentary series that shows his various travels around the world.....bringing the Serengeti, Great Rift Valley, the Himalayas, Lapland and the South Pole right into the comforts of home....haha...maybe i should be an explorer =)
